Dragonflies, Sending Springtime

The Challenge at Allsorts #562, is to create something with wings. I thought of this Stampin’ Up! set called “Dragonfly dreams” which I haven’t had a chance to try yet. At the Joy of Sets, the Tic Tac Toe direction I chose was to use silver, weather, and paper piecing. CAS(E) this sketch provided the layout idea for this card as well.

I die cut the dragonflies out of silver first, then again out of purple using painters tape to keep all the pieces in place.

I glued the silver dragonflies onto white paper, and then carefully glued each wing piece of purple into the holes. paper piecing is like a puzzle and I find it fun. I ran the whole thing through the embossing machine to give it texture, and lastly; I found the sentiment “Sending Springtime” for the weather part of the challenge.

This next card was made for a sweet neighbor who just lost his dog to cancer. They walked three times a day and would stop and greet everyone. The dog was part pit bull and his name was Bruce. He was an absolute love, and will be greatly missed.

  2. Hi Karen, you have been very creative again! Love the dragonflies especially, I so love to see them flitting round the lakes in summer. And that’s a lovely thought to make such a great card for your neighbour. It’s always so hard to lose a beloved pet. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
