Easter and Black Background

Two very different entries on one post today. The first is for Festive Friday where I chose Pastel colors, flowers, and a cute animal. With Easter coming up quickly I thought of this sweet bunny stamp. I took a picture of the stamp as I think it’s the only one I own where the rubber image is made directly on it’s own clear block. I used the stamp and die set by Stampin’ Up! called “Wondrous Wreath” and the sentiment from “Circle of Spring”. The flowers were from a kit where you punch them all out (maybe by K and CO. ) and I added bling to the centers. I’m also entering this at Inkspirational and Penny Black Saturday.

My second card is for Just us Girls where the theme is to use a black background. I’m making this card for Ryan, you can read his story at moreloveletters.com. I haven’t tried this technique of using gold flakes in awhile and forgot that it works better with a more solid image. I’m still pleased with how it turned out, you just don’t see all the details in the tree as well.

I keep my gold flakes in a cigar box
This image was taken before I brushed off the excess flakes

It needed a little something, so I found a charm that reads ‘made with love’ that seemed fitting along with the sentiment “May happiness touch your life today as you have so often touched the lives of others”. This site is open to volunteers and you don’t have to use a handmade card, you can use regular stationary too. Maybe you’ll read one of the requests and bless someone with a love note too?

I have a used copy of Hannah’s book entitled: “If you find this letter” and the first person that lives in the US to email me with there address will receive this book from me free by media mail. Just click on the “contact” button on the left hand corner of my site and fill out the form with your address. This is a book that I purchased from Ebay and is in used condition. Blessings & stay well!

  1. These cards couldn’t be more different Karen! I am a sucker for a checked background and it’s great that you used a Christmas set for your spring wreath – making those stamps work hard, I love it! The bunny looks perfect sitting in front of the wreath too. The second card has a much more dramatic feel! I’ve never used gold flakes but you’ve used them to such great effect here I may have to dive in and give them a go!

  3. Your gilding flakes are absolutely gorgeous on that tree, Karen. The wonderful sentiment that is embossed to match finishes off the card perfectly. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
