Feline Birthday Cards

My neighbor asked me to create a cat themed birthday card for her friend. I found inspiration from:

The Paper craft crew with a tic-tac -toe challenge. I chose straight across with birthday theme, watercolor background, and to make it masculine.

Daisy Chain: is requesting no patterned paper.

and Cheerful Sketches for there design.

I used watercolor paper and distress ink on a craft mat to create the background for my cat. I chose shiny gold paper to die cut a circle, stamp my sentiment and affix my kitty. after trying several colors, I went with black strips and black card base to give it a more masculine look.

Because I personally don’t know the recipient, I made a second more snarky looking cat in case she wants to go that route with her greeting. This die cut cat can be found on Ebay HERE. I don’t own( nor do I really want) an electronic die cut machine, so I support fellow artists by buying their creations. I added the hat and the word “Party” that I die cut in white and colored in with markers. I think he’s fitting for our current social distancing -no parties allowed- kind of birthday!

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Hello! I'm a 50 something wife and mother of two girls ~ I started Blogging in March of 2011 on Blogger and just converted to WordPress in Dec 2019. I started paper crafting in 1995 when I first tried embossing with powder, I was so excited and couldn't believe it was so easy to make something so beautiful. Creativeseconds was started as a way of selling secondhand craft supplies and cards on Ebay and Etsy. You will find creative cards, tags, and paper crafting projects here as well as craft room organizational ideas. Follow along with me and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

  1. Hi Karen! You made 2 gorgeous cat cards, love them both. Love the classic design of the first one and the cat with cattitude on the second. The second one reminds me of my Kitty when she was waiting for me to do something for her. And it’s a great idea to buy things from fellow-crafters, too. Have a wonderful dy, take care, and be safe! Hugs, Valerie

  2. Lovely cards Karen! I like the way the cat fits into the circle on the first and your beautiful background; and I love the sheer amount of snark the second cat has and your coloured card base is brilliant! It’s great to support those that are selling die cuts on Ebay – what a lovely lady you are! Vicky x

  3. Both of your cards are just great! Your snarky cat made me laugh and the cat silhouette looking over his shoulder is so cat typical. Thanks for joining the Paper Craft Crew this week!
