T for Tugboat, Dolphin, Crush,Card, and Inchie

Happy T day to the Altered Book Lover crew! My hubby, my daughter, and I went fishing recently on a beautiful sunny day on the Chesapeake Bay. We didn’t catch any fish, but we enjoyed trying.

We passed a tug boat and It got me wondering, what is it about tug boats that make me smile? It must be a childhood memory of Theodore the tugboat. Or is it just because they’re such hard working and useful crafts?. In any case, I just love this type of boat!

We spotted Sting Ray, a Sea Turtle, and several pods of Dolphin which I took a short video of here:

And here is my drink of choice: an orange crush while dining dockside at Chicks.

Here is a card made for the Retro Rubber tic tac toe challenge:

I picked die cut, blue, and washi.

The image is die cut from a book page, and the beautiful sentiment reads “Adopt the pace nature; her secret is patience.” By R. W. Emerson.

Every Inchie Monday theme: Beach

I’m off to pick up branches in my yard after Tropical Storm Isaias blew through and thankfully spared my abode of any damage this morning. Enjoy your week!

  2. Lovely card, Karen. I loved your story of the fishing trip. I’d never heard of Theodore the Tugboat. That’s very cute. Thanks for the dolphin video.

I’m glad that Tropical Storm Isaias blew through without doing much damage.

Happy T-day and have a lovely week! Hugs, Eileen

  3. Love the Emmerson quote! I will have to check out the challenge. Thank you for the video; so fun. I wanted to say I have seen Theodore Tug in person in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I have a photo of it. It makes me smile.
    Happy T Day!

  4. I’ve also never heard of Theodore the Tugboat, but it’s cute. I also like the shape of a tugboat and the fact it’s big enough to be seaworthy, but small enough a small crew can handle it. I enjoyed the video and really appreciated the pod of dolphins, something I haven’t seen since the last time I visited CA.

LOVED your card. I like when you recycle items. It’s really clever, both inside and out. It’s ironic that the inchie of the week is beach, since many of the east coast beaches are closed due to Isaias.

How great to be able to be out and about near the water and be able to stay on your boat, too. The Orange Crush sounds refreshing. Thanks for sharing your lovely card, your inchie, your video, the photos, and your drink with us for T this Tuesday, Karen.

  5. Looks like you had a nice day on the water. I really enjoyed seeing the pods of dolphins.Pretty card and I would love to be under the inchie umbrella instead of waiting for the tropical storm to arrive in my area. Glad you didnt get a lot of damage. Take care and Happy T Day

  6. My childhood tugboat is Scuffy. From Wikipedia:
“Scuffy the Tugboat is a children’s book written by Gertrude Crampton and illustrated by Tibor Gergely. The book was first published in 1946 as part of the Little Golden Books series. Scuffy is a toy tugboat who wishes for “bigger things” than sailing in the bathtub.”

  7. That looks like a fun day out. I’m with you on the subject of tugs also. Seeing a turtle and dolphins is as good, if not better, than catching fish! I hope it was a super T day Karen! hugs-Erika

  8. Thank God you had no damage after storm Isaias blew through.
It must have been so lovely being on the water on a sunny summer’s day. I enjoyed seeing the dolphins in the video. What is the causeway i n the distance? Is it a bridge?
Your card is beautiful. I love the colour combination. And the quote of course. It is so true. We live in a rural village where life goes according to nature’s pace. A bit frustrating to start with, but we are used to it now and ‘go with the flow’.
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Hugs,

  9. Loved seeing the dolphins! Orange crush sounds like a refreshing drink! Love the card and how you combined the ingredients from the tic tac toe.
Glad the storm didn’t get you too badly!

  10. Your card is just delightful! Love the image, the sentiment and that fun washi tape! But I was really excited to see the dolphins…we aren’t too far from the Chesapeake Bay, and we see dolphins in the ocean and bay at Lewes and Rehoboth, Delaware! Fun stuff! Thanks for sharing this with us at Retro Rubber this week!
