Side Layered Pockets, WOYWW

The idea to make these layered pockets came from Pam at the paper outpost, and you can watch her video HERE. I made one for me and one for my swap partner over on Swap-bot. I’m linking up with Julia, and the creative bloggers at The Stamping Ground for “WOYWW” What’s on your work desk Wednesday.

This layered pocket is for me. I love the antique button and the picture of the ladies all dressed up and wearing hats. I’m glad to have discovered junk journals as a way to use some of the many items I’ve collected over the years.

This one is for my swap partner who states that she likes owls and butterflies. I found most of the items in books and added a few other embellishments to decorate.

Ice Cream Treat after the first day of School yesterday can you tell which flavor she chose?

Hello! I'm a 50 something wife and mother of two girls ~ I started Blogging in March of 2011 on Blogger and just converted to WordPress in Dec 2019. I started paper crafting in 1995 when I first tried embossing with powder, I was so excited and couldn't believe it was so easy to make something so beautiful. Creativeseconds was started as a way of selling secondhand craft supplies and cards on Ebay and Etsy. You will find creative cards, tags, and paper crafting projects here as well as craft room organizational ideas. Follow along with me and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

  1. Your layered pockets are fantastic, Karen. So full of texture and interest, and like you, I do love the ladies in their hats! Reminds me of my grandmother lol! I love the decorative ice cream sign, and have to agree that the cookie monster one would be hard t resist… I’m not eating any of them these days but can remember indulging – we’ve got a few really good local ice cream makers around here.

    Happy WOYWW,

  3. The layered pockets are fabulous, Karen, that’s another idea I must try. Love the photo of your happy daughter enjoying her cookie monster ice. I would have chosen coffee – what else,? But mint chip sounds good, too. All the best for her school start! Have a safe week, hugs, Valerie

  4. I thought the icecream looked like bubble gum flavour but maybe it’s the Cookie Monster, great colour. I so love your layered pocket cards, brilliant idea. Take care both of you. Wishing you a very happy woyww, Angela Xnow13X

  5. Hi Karen. Nice to meet you! Great desk, and I love the layered pockets. I’d go for the mint choc chip from those on the list – but I’m recently into salted caramel, so if there is a salted caramel ice cream I need to find it! Love the photos of your daughter enjoying ice cream and virtual school – lovely smile! Thanks for stopping by earlier – my little painting helpers are cute, I love them to bits! My potting shed will be another creative place for me, I’m sure! Have a lovely week, take care Heather xx #14

  6. Great pockets and full of lovely things. A friend made me one not long ago and I so enjoyed all the bits inside. So much so that I made another for myself. I keep special papers of certain colours in each one – colour coded.
I thought she had chosen min choc – it looked green to me. I’d have gone chocolate or maybe coffee.

  7. Thank you for your visit, Karen, and for your prayers for a miracle – without one, I don’t think the ring is going to turn up. Yes, do share some photos of Izzy! Our kitties are the centre of our life here at home, hence the constant photos – I can never resist photographing them! Ruby lies in my arms and lets me rub her paws and they are so soft. Did you know cats have webbed feet? Funny, when they hate water! I’m glad you enjoyed the foodie bits of my post. I’ve had quite a long journey to where I am today with my nutrition and it’s been a very interesting adventure. I just wish I’d known way back, what I now know – I am convinced I could have avoided inflammatory bowel disease all my adult life, culminating in colon cancer – these things have been proved to be diet-related and rarely occur in communities where no animal products are consumed. Quite apart from the health, ethical and environmental reasons for going whole-food plant-based, my hubby and I are really, really enjoying the food!!

Have a great week and happy WOYWW,

  9. Hi Karen! I have never tried Cookie Monster! That looks yummy. I am lactose intolerant so I have to stick to almond and oat milk ice creams. But they are coming around to making a little variety of flavors. But no fun colors like that one! I really love that pocket. It would be great to add one like that to scrapbook pages too. My boys are back too. They started last Thursday and it’s all online too. I prefer it until things get sorted out. Today is pretty gloomy outside. I have work and then I am grabbing my book for some reading. I am buddy reading Frederick Douglass by David Blight. I just started but I am learning so much. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!
