T stands for Ynot, Hot Tuna, Tree house, Album, and Inchie

Hello! Today is Tuesday which means I share a beverage with you and the T gang at The Altered Book Lover. Sorry if I make you hungry with this post, but we’ve had some really good dinners recently.

First up, is a white spinach and tomato pizza on a gluten free cauliflower pizza crust from Ynot Italian. This was the best GF pizza I’ve ever had, lot’s of flavor and the crust had a crunch ~YUM.

Next, Hubby and I had a date night at Hot Tuna. They have happy hour everyday from 3-6pm and till 9pm on Weds. Great prices for a beer on tap and a Mojito

I had the blackened mahi and shrimp tacos and we shared the grilled avocado (I liked the shrimp taco the best). Ed had the crispy shrimp, artichokes, and the oysters rockefeller. He said he would skip the oysters next time but really enjoyed the shrimp. The restaurant was busy and had outdoor seating with a fire pit that I would’ve enjoyed and will try to reserve next time.

Hubby (Ed) laughing and ready to enjoy the feast.

T also stands for tree house. My neighbor has built a pirate ship tree house for her grandchildren complete with a pirate flag, treasure chest, map, ships wheel and skeleton. So much fun! I’ll have to get a picture when it’s complete and the kids are playing in it.

My neighbors pirate ship tree house is almost complete!

Next, I have my grandmothers photo album that’s falling apart. I’m wondering what is the best way to keep some images? The photos are heavily glued on both sides of the paper and won’t peel off without ripping. Do you scan the whole page then zoom in and try to save the pictures digitally somehow? any inputs would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of my mom when she was little.

My Mom – early 1940’s

I would love to know the story behind this man that’s been cut out of the picture, wouldn’t you?!

Blessings and Fall weather wishes!

  1. Happy T Day, That food – and the drinks – look gorgeous. I would have been laughing if I’d been siting at that table laden with that wonderful food! Love the tree house. The pictures will have to be scanned page for page and then digitally cut apart and perhaps improved a bit. I also have photos with holes in them, my mum cut my dad out of everything, too, even out of her wedding photo! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

  2. Your drinks and your dinners sound and look delicious!
I used to love watching the treehouse man on tv don’t know if he is still filming new shows or not-amazing what him and his crew built-the pirate treehouse sounds perfect for the kids.
Happy T and first day of autumn Kathy

  3. The food looks delicious! Going out to eat is a luxury we aren’t yet indulging in.

I can think of two reasons why the man’s face might have been cut out. The obvious one is that he offended someone. But also , back then, if you needed an ID photo or a photo for a news story, that might be your only option — scanners and digital photos have been a total game changer. I know this happened to me a couple of times, and people promised to return the photo but didn’t.

  4. All the food looks so good and that pirate ship tree house is fantastic. What a treasure to have a picture of your mother when she was little. Since the face of the man was neatly cut out of the picture, I’m thinking the picture was put in a locket. A fun mystery. Happy T Day

  5. That looks like a wonderful place to eat and what a fabulous meal you had, both the food and the beer looks delish – so yummy! That tree house is amazing, I would love to play on it myself …lol 😀. I loved seeing the old photos in your family album, your mum looks adorable! As for the photo maybe it was used for ID, did you notice it’s the right size for an inchie too …lol 😉. Your fall inchie is perfect, love those autumnal leaves and I’m always in awe of the detail you create on such a small scale – beautiful! Wishing you a very happy T Tuesday! Hugs, Jo x

  6. You did make me hungry. I guess I shouldn’t read T day posts right before dinner. Love the old photos, and that is curious that the face is cut out. That would be a good story, but maybe you will never know. Too bad too. It would be a good one. I hope you had a great T day Karen. Happy T day and first day of fall too.

  7. That GF pizza looks delicious as well as the tacos! YUM!

That tree hose is a great place for kids to play. Not every child has a pirate ship in their backyard.

I too would like to know the reason that guy is cut out of that photo. We can only imaging the reasons. I am sure they haven’t changed much since that photo was taken.

    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  8. Hmmm, it all looks yummy, especially the pizza and I love how your Hubby looks so happy! Arrr, cool tree house to be!
My Grandmother cut out faces out of pics, too.. Sad when people drive you that nuts or disappoint you so much that you feel you have to “erase” them.
Yes, scanning is the only way, I guess. At least these days they are fast! The first scanner I used I could put on 4 pics, start the process and go to the grocery store nearby, I am not even kidding.
    Happy belated T-day.

  9. What a treasure that photo album! Yes, I would scan it and then save the photos one by one. Alternatively you can photograph the pages with a camera on a tri-pod.
The cut out face is probably in someone’s locket. If it had been for other reasons (like a marriage break-up) the whole photo would be torn rather than a carefully cut out face.
The pirate ship tree house is so cool! The kids will looove it! (I would!)
Your date night food looks really nice. And the GF pizza sounds great too. Are you coeliac?
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

    1. Hi! CJ thinks it was for a locket too, and that sounds logical and much nicer then if they had a fight! I’m not celiac but I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and have trouble digesting grains. I feel better when I eat healthy, but I’m not always good about it!. I guess I’ll be scanning in the near future when my renovated office space is complete 🙂 Thank you!

  10. Aaargh Karen! Stop with all that yumminess now! It all looks very inviting and it’s good to hear that restaurants are open in your area, and busy too.
I’m amazed by the pirate ship – that’s quite an undertaking! Hope the children have lots of fun there 🙂
Your mother’s album is an absolute treasure! I hope you can get them digitally enhanced perhaps? I love the idea that the man’s face is in a locket and it’s true that the whole figure would have been removed if there’d been conflict.
And what a beautiful inchie, really autumnal. Vicky x

  11. Eileen at the https://theartfulcrafter.com wrote to me and wanted me to post a comment:

“Lots of delicious looking food. It’s so nice to be able to go to restaurants again.

If the album is bigger than your scanner bed, scan the pages in half. Because of the books bulk, don’t try to flatten it with the scanner cover. You’ll get uneven shadows. With the cover up, cover the album with a black cloth that hangs over all the spaces where light could get in. Then press down the portion you’re scanning to flatten it while it is scanned. Scan at 300 or higher resolution

In image editing software like Photoshop or Gimp, open the scan. If it’s crooked, copy the locked layer to a new layer. Then use the Move and Transform tools to straighten. Make any adjustments for color, brightness and so on that you want. Save the scan as a .jpg and close.

The rest is easy. Open the new file. Crop and save the 1st photo. Then go back a step to the full image. Repeat this process until you’ve created separate files for all the photos on the scan.

I hope that’s not TMI. If you have any questions, I love this type of project, so just leave a comment on my blog.

The tree house is awesome. I bet the grandkids will spend many happy hours there.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen”

  12. Oh, yes share the photo of the finished tree house, please. All your food looks delicious, especially the roasted avocado. I never thought of roasting it. I pretty much have done everything else with it. 🙂 I have my grandfather’s old black album like that and it is frustrating that we don’t know all the individuals in the photos. But I cherish it, just the same. Happy bleated T Day!
