WOYWW, Book Page snippet strips, Renovations

I decided I would take a before picture of my work desk so the group at the stamping ground can see that my desk really is clear when I start a new project:

I made Book Page Snippet Strips based on a video I watched HERE by Eva, from Bohemian Crafting. They’re like clusters but long and skinny for your junk journal or scrapbook page. I used washi tape, buttons, paper flowers, material, lace, metal and wood embellishments, twine, and postage stamps to create with. The idea is to glue and/or sew right on the book page for easy storage, and then you can chose how big of a background you want when you use one. I think I like the brown one the best.

Desk during project: purple and blue and green embellishment drawer, green container of bling, blue button drawer, one of several washi drawers, assorted glue and large glass of water.
Completed project and desk shot: brown, red and pink embellishment drawers and pink ribbon ribbon container.

Update on the kitchen renovations: The plaster walls are up and the first coat of paint is on. The doors and crown molding are being added back, and will be painted white.

The floor is ripped out in the kitchen, and the sink and dishwasher are coming out today, and the new cabinets are coming this morning.

More pictures coming soon! Enjoy the rest of your week.

I started paper crafting in 1995 when I first tried embossing with powder, I was so excited and couldn't believe it was so easy to make something so beautiful. Creativeseconds was started as a way of selling secondhand craft supplies and cards on Ebay and Etsy. You will find creative cards, tags, and paper crafting projects here as well as craft room organizational ideas. Follow along with me and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

  1. Oh just look at those layers, strips of fabric and embellishments upon those book pages. What’s not to love about a collaboration of my favourite things *Sigh*.. Your so good at having a clear space before you start a new project, if only I had the room to do just that. Your kitchen is coming along nicely, keep keeping us updated..

  2. I love all those goodies on your table – that collage sheet looks very appetising (the one in your box with some bits missing). I like using postage stamps in my work too – they’re so versatile – little artworks in themselves. Good luck with the kitchen – it looks like a big job! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #20 (InkyDinkyDoodle)

  4. Those are really cute. If they weren’t too bumpy, they’d be wonderful bookmarks, too!

Your kitchen is shaping up and it must feel good to look at it and see it looking more like a kitchen instead of a demo zone! It will be fabulous!

What a cleeeeean desk to start and what an exciting desk in the middle of the creative process and then oh my goodness, what beautiful snippet strips! My favourite is the purple one with the pansy stamp as the focal point. And then come the renovation photos! I hope you are able to stay calm amid all this – just keep thinking about the end result!! 11. Have to type quickly to get all my comments in before forgetting, I wish I could comment between your sentences! In love with the vertical clusters, such a great idea. My current favourite is the one with the pansy I about swooned over your colour organisation method and look in awe and how tidy and empty your beginning surface is. You may be the ideal crafter!! Gosh, the kitchen works are coming along, it looks so big! are you sure that gas range is buying enough?!!

  12. My word you have been busy at your crafting – lots of lovely things for us to look at today.
What about those renovations? This is looking absolutely great and i love the picture of the floor – I remember mine looking like that when i was having the kitchen redone but despite all the mess I am loving it now, four years down the line, and am so proud of my kitchen. Just as you will be.

  13. I love your snippet strips and your drawers full of goodies, Karen! Also, your kitchen renovation which is coming along splendidly. I love seeing things like this and look forward to more update photos. I took photos of all the building work when we first got this house, and also of my more recent pantry construction and subsequent revamps – it’s easy to forget what things were like before, if you don’t keep a photographic record, isn’t it.

Thank you for your lovely comment. It is a relief to be getting the front entrance tidied up again. It will be a while before the gate can be rehung because the bracket was broken, but the gatepost looks great now. So glad you liked my fashion shoot! As for relationships, I always say marriage is a bed of roses. Full of thorns as well as pretty flowers lol!! How quickly the years pass since our Christian birthday haha! I can’t believe it’s been as long as it has – more than half my lifetime now. Having a restful day today and so far no more breakages!!

Happy belated WOYWW and God bless,

  15. Lovely long book page decorations. I had a look at the tutorial too (and a few others while was there🙄). Now that lady keeps every scrap! You have a whole lot of Washi tapes. They are just great for this craft. I guess it keeps them neater if they are left on the page, my list of “I must have a go at this” gets longer:) Have a great weekend Angela #23
