T stands for Instant Latte, Loaded Autumn Pocket, Sunflower FIeld, and Inchie

It’s T day where we share a drink and some recent activities at the Altered Book Lover. You know when you buy something because you really want it to be good and all the while you know it probably won’t be?? That’s what I did when I bought this Starbucks “Instant” Pumpkin Spice Latte on sale. I wasn’t thinking about the fact that it would be fake powdered milk, somehow I missed that when I read the word latte. Oh well, live and keep learning.

Sarah and I at Historic Greenbrier Farms in Chesapeake, VA

Sarah and I went to the pumpkin farm and only got as far as the sunflower field as the place was loaded with people, and only about 25% were wearing masks. It was crazy, I think because people think they’re outside that social distance and mask wearing aren’t necessary?! Glad we got a few pictures, and we left and had a nice lunch together instead of pumpkin picking.

Here is my latest swap of a junk journal pocket with an Autumn theme. The inspiration for this style came from a video HERE by Natashia at Treasure Books. I used book pages, part of a napkin, a stamped an embossed sunflower, a paper leaf, ribbon and a vintage button to complete the pockets.

I inserted a large journal tag embellished with part of a napkin, 2 vintage fall scene postcards, a quote, a picture by Norman Rockwell, a leaf, tickets, and a sunflower embellished journal spot.

And last, two happy Cats:

Izzy, she’s sitting on the arm of the chair and has her paw on my shoulder 🙂

  1. Sorry you weren’t able to enjoy the pumpkin place, some people just don’t seem to understand what’s necessary for us all to keep safe! Your journaling pocket is fabulous, lovely idea. How did your pumpkin latte taste? LOVE the photos of your kitties, so sweet. Have a good week stay safe, hugs, Valerie

  2. I’m glad you got out! I love your cat and the sunflowers are beautiful but I know what you mean about too many people! I love your pages and the tag inserts. And thanks for the pretty card! It is right out where everyone can see it! (Gorgeous cats, too!)

  3. It´s sad how some people ignore it with the safety, if for others.
Especially the young ones here make government thinking of masks non-stop when outside. Great for people who wear glasses, it gets super-foggy in these temps from cold to hot.
Nice page and awww, your cats are adorable! Happy T-day to you!

  4. I enjoyed your pocket project. It made me want to get out the glue and have a go at making pockets. Happy you were able to enjoy the sunflowers if not the crowds. The acres of sunflowers grown in the Valley here have been harvested and the stubs are being plowed under. I miss seeing them as we drive by.

  5. I have tried several times posting today-hopefully this one will go through when ever I clear cookies on my computer I always have issues with word press and have to re create a new password. Oh well lol
I think it would be so fun to visit a sunflower farm I have never seen one of those, a pumpkin farm would be great too. there are more and more mixed information about wearing masks even outdoors Faucci even said in the beginning that they do nothing to protect healthy people-so I just sanitized everything well now, wash hands often, and social distance its all we can do really.
Loved seeing another inchie and your kitties. thanks for visiting and Happy T wishes Kathy

  6. Loving Sarah’s pumpkin earrings and that’s such a lovely photo of you both! Your pages are gorgeous, the autumnal theme and images are wonderful and I always think that sunflowers are such happy flowers 😀. Your cats look very content and relaxed, so sweet to keep paw contact with you while sleeping too. The little sweater inchie is perfect too! Sorry I’m so late visiting, it’s my hubby’s birthday – Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  7. Good to hear that some of us are heeding the increasingly clear evidence that masks help protect both the wearer and other people. Medical scientists have learned a lot since this horror show began, and it’s a great idea to learn from their observations and statistics. Good for you! Too bad about the others who refuse to listen. They put themselves and all of us at risk.

  8. It’s too bad so many people didn’t wear masks and you couldn’t get to go pick a pumpkin. But as long as you had a ice outing, that is most important. Too bad about the latte too, but it makes a good T daay story. The sunflower field looks gorgeous though. And your kitties are sweet. I hope it was a great T day. Hugs-Erika

  9. Last night before I was going to leave a message, I got up to get coffee. When I did, I must have hit my computer screen because when I got back, my screen was black. I even rebooted and tried the little lights that adjust the screen. I was sick about it, but waited until today when I could see better what was going on. I finally found I had accidentally unplugged one of the cords that hooks the screen to the hard drive box. I am so glad I didn’t need a new computer screen.

Now here it is evening again, and I’m still playing catch up, I think your pocket page is beautiful. I love how you manage to get so many things in the pockets, too.

Your inchie is SO adorable. I love it.

Sorry to read about your trip to the pumpkin farm. I blame the farmer for letting so many people in all at once and not demanding they wear masks. At least you were smart.

Had to laugh at your latte. I’ve been duped by that before, too. I LOVE that mug. It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your pocket swap, your inchie, your trip to the farm, and your latte in that beautiful mug with us for T this Tuesday, Sorry again for being so late, dear Karen.

  11. Too bad about the pumpkins, but at least there were sunflowers and a nice lunch. Sounds like a very good day. Lots of fun goodies to look at in the Autumn pocket. Love the kitties. The tuxie owns a beautiful corner chair. Happy T Day

  12. What a shame that the latte was so disappointing. How can they use fake milk powder? I usually have milk powder in the house to put in tea or use for bread making, but I’ve never heard of fake milk powder. Does it taste differently?
I’m sorry you couldn’t get to the pumpkin patch. People can be so inconsiderate. I do like Sarah’s earrings though. She is looking the part.
Your autumn pocket is beautiful. Your swap partner is going to be so pleased.
Thank you for letting your cats say hello. It is a pleasure to meet them.
    Sorry for the late comment,
    Have a good week,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  13. Your autumn pocket page is really neat. Too bad about pumpkin picking and all those inconsiderate people. I love your inchies. It takes a lot of imagination to figure out art that will fit in such a small space.

  14. I LOVE the autumn junk journal pocket. So many details. And your comment about the pumpkin spiece latte made me laugh. I sometimes buy such instant drinks, too, as I really really hope to find one, that is tasty…………most of the times they are horrible. *LOL* But I keep on searching. Happy weekend!

  15. Fake powdered milk made me feel a bit ill! Just don’t drink it Karen! Love the mug 🙂
The sunflower field looks wonderful! What a shame there were so many people there. I don’t wear a mask outside as I think we all need the fresh air, but I certainly wouldn’t go near anyone either and if it was busy I’d do as you did and just leave.
What a gorgeous Junk Journal pocket page! Love your little details and those rich autumnal colours.
And how lovely to see your happy cats! Isn’t it cute when they sleep with a paw on you ❤
Your inchie is another beauty. I bet they'd look amazing displayed all together.
