For the Birds

It’s Thursday’s art date at Rain’s Garden, and the theme today is birds. I’m always so impressed by how some bloggers find and share some of their older art examples as well as current makes, so this week I did the same. I made this new card for Hubby for Valentine’s day using an old stamp by Stampin’ Up! called French Flair. I embossed the image in black and added a sentiment as well as a gold heart and black ribbon for embellishment.

Here are some previously made cards of birds, can you tell my favorite colors are blue and green. Most of these cards were made with Stampin’ Up! stamps and punches.

Here is the French Flair stamp again, that time I used a Versacolor pigment ink pad called Icicle, and stamped on glossy paper then embossed the image with transparent Kaleidoscope powder.  This is an ATC’s ( artist trading card) that I put in a plastic protective sleeve so you can just slip it out and keep it.

~ Enjoy the weekend ahead ~

Hello! I'm a 50 something wife and mother of two girls ~ I started Blogging in March of 2011 on Blogger and just converted to WordPress in Dec 2019. I started paper crafting in 1995 when I first tried embossing with powder, I was so excited and couldn't believe it was so easy to make something so beautiful. Creativeseconds was started as a way of selling secondhand craft supplies and cards on Ebay and Etsy. You will find creative cards, tags, and paper crafting projects here as well as craft room organizational ideas. Follow along with me and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

  1. You have given me about a dozen perfect reasons why I don’t make cards. Yours are all so creative, fun, and would make any recipient happy. Each of these is beautiful and creative in their own right. Color me impressed. I love this theme and how well you met the challenge.

  2. Hi Karen!! 🙂 I love this post, “Happy Bird-Day” got me giggling, how cute is that! Awwwwwwww, your Valentine’s card is so pretty…melted my heart! And yes! I’d love to exchange Valentine’s cards! 🙂 What a nice idea! 🙂 All of the cards are beautiful, but the Cardinal is my very favourite, what a nice job there! 🙂

  3. I absolutely love birds as a motif for cards and this whole gallery of them was a real treat for me Karen! French Flair came out soon after I started card making and I loved it – the swirls give it such a lot of movement don’t they. You’ve made a really beautiful valentine with it and I love that sentiment.

Thanks for your lovely comments and for asking about the spray glue I use. The brand is 3M and I’ve had mine for 10 years or so! You can also get double-sided adhesive sheets with a backing for intricate dies which are not as cost effective but are mess-free.

    Enjoy your weekend, Vicky x

  4. Blues and greens have always been in my life, not only because they make up a major part of our natural world, but because my mother loooooved blues and greens so our house and everything she did was in blue in green. Did I get tired of it? No, because I was raised to love nature and continue, to this day (Only months away from being 80), to use blues and greens in my own home and I spend as much time as I can muster out in our beautiful natural world. Your cards are beautiful and classy and I will look forward to seeing more of them as you continue (I hope) to post on Rains Art Date. Thank you for sending me back on a memory tour of my wonderful past 🙂
