WOYWW, Altered Journal Cards

What’s NOT on my desk today~!~ The Stamping Ground is where you can share the current state of your workspace with others, and mine is a happy mess at the moment. I have my colorful drawers of bits out as well as stacks of paper, glue, punches, twine etc. My daughters desk has a pile of Ephemera that she was sorting in for her Junk Journal and a tower of markers.

All this stuff was out to create three “Altered Journal Cards” for a swap on swap-bot. Altered journal cards are basically 3×4 project life type embellished cards, or a big ATC that has space for journaling. I started with scrapbook paper and backed it with cardstock. The brown one was the first one I created and I made double sided.

The second one I made actually is a Project life card that I added a postage “Love” pocket stamp to. I slipped in a tiny #”4″ playing card, and completed my altering with a pink heart button.

The third card I made by gluing two 3×4 Stampin’ Up! scrapbook papers together and adding “You are my Sunshine” ribbon to. I found a chipboard sun, Love charm, and tiny flower scrap that I layered on a orange circle to complete. (I have to keep this one I think!)

My Swap partner likes bold colors and is Christian so I made the fourth card with scripture and space for journaling that is embellished with a repurposed broken butterfly pin, a ribbon flower, and some washi tape.

The fourth card was made again by backing two pieces of scrapbook paper and adding a die cut journal spot. I embellished this one with ribbons, flowers, and a tea tag quote.

Every Inchie Monday: Theme = Cats

It’s sunny and 48′ so I’m going to enjoy a walk, then tackle the cleaning! ~ Enjoy your week ~

Hello! I'm a 50 something wife and mother of two girls ~ I started Blogging in March of 2011 on Blogger and just converted to WordPress in Dec 2019. I started paper crafting in 1995 when I first tried embossing with powder, I was so excited and couldn't believe it was so easy to make something so beautiful. Creativeseconds was started as a way of selling secondhand craft supplies and cards on Ebay and Etsy. You will find creative cards, tags, and paper crafting projects here as well as craft room organizational ideas. Follow along with me and comments are welcomed and appreciated.

  6. Your journal cards are fantastic – I’ve never heard of them before but they are a great idea, and very useful too. I guess the brown one is my favourite as I just love that vintage vibe! Your desk looks so interesting – I’d love a rummage through those boxes!!

  7. Hi Karen. Sorry I am late. I was completely wiped last night having spent the day sorting out the next bits on my new computer, then successfully partaking in a Zoom prayer meeting!!! Yes – got myself into the 21st century. Not taken too long, has it, only 20 years!
Anyway – I love what you have made this week. That is some challenge. The one with the text on is just so appropriate for the times through which we are living – well done on your choice of Scripture.. Your desk looks great – busy, hectic, full of life and colour. Who says we should be neat and tidy anyway?? I certainly am never neat when in the middle of something (you maybe shouldn’t currently see my living room…)
    Take care. God bless you.

  8. That swap sounds fun. I like the idea of journalling on those cards. I could decorate one side each day and journal on the other – sort of like a diary. You have given me an idea – when I get time of course. Love how sunny yours are.

  10. Great selection of altered journal cards, I shall be singing “You Are My Sunshine” all day 🙂
It must be nice to have another crafty person in the house, do you have separate supplies?
Our weather has been cold and wet, my husband came back with muddy dogs that all had to have a bath!
Have a great week Angela #6

  11. Hi Karen! I love the journal cards, especially the first one! I love that style of collage. “You are My Sunshine” is also the song I sang to my DD when she was little, as so many have done, or have had their Mom’s sing to them. I don’t remember my Mom ever singing to me, which is maybe why I sang to my DD all the time, and hopefully she will sing to her new baby arriving in a few months! Thanks for your visit, have a great week! Lindart #29

  12. Hi Karen, sorry I’m late visiting. Nice shot of your desk – so tempting to have a rummage! Your swaps are perfect, I love them all. How great that you can craft with your daughter – mine are grown up and flown the nest, but they aren’t overly interested in crafting. We all share a love of gardening though, so at least that’s something. Have a lovely week, Heather xx 28
