Stenciled tags with texture paste and a three pocket fold out

At Tag Tuesday the current challenge is to use a stencil on your project. I haven’t experimented much with texture paste, so I thought I would give that technique a go. I used a Stampin’ Up metal background die and made a stencil out of cardstock. I chose music sheet patterned scrapbook paper for the base and applied the paste. I thought it was kind of plain in white so I used embossing powder and heat embossed it in gold. I liked that better, but thought it still needed something. I decided to use a texture embossing folder and finally was satisfied with the result. I went through my stash of ephemera and found like colored items to cut, arrange and glue. I backed the tag in light pink and added a ribbon to the top to complete.

I made two feather tags as well, and used silver embossing powder and distress inks for the background. These will make nice bookmarks or journal spots.

The Three pocket fold out is for my swap partner on swap-bot. The idea comes from a video by Cathy at Cathy’s Garden where you take one 8×10 sheet of paper and make a three pocket wallet type folder for your junk journal. I started with double sided paper by Stampin’ Up, and cut it to the approximate size and dimensions.

I found embellishments and tuck pocket items from my stash to add to my creation. I used a flat square metal piece that I glued only on the left corner so that it could act as a closure. This was fun and easy to make, and I kept it pretty thin so it should go through the mail safely.
