Beach Sympathy and a Pink Scrap Card

I’m joining Rain for her Thursday Art Date with my beach themed sympathy card. My daughter’s future mother in law just lost her sister after a long battle of uterine cancer. She loves the beach which happens to go along with this weeks theme of sun and water for my entry. I actually scrap lifted this card idea from Lynn at Avery’s owlery. The stamp set is by Stampin’ Up! called “Waterfront”. I need to play with this set more since it can be elegant or fun with which ever setting you create.

The second card I created is for two current challenges:

It took more time then I anticipated finding scraps in the right shade and background scale that would go together. I ended using an argyle type embossing folder and trimmed the piece to fit inside a frame die cut.

I added the die cut word hello and used the same argyle embossing folder on a white oval to help it to show up on the background. This was challenging and time consuming trying to decide what to make, but I did enjoy the mental exercise 🙂

Thanks for reading
Enjoy the rest of your week

  1. Great cards Karen. Your beach sympathy card really captures not only the view of the ocean, but the feel of it. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs-Erika

  2. Sympathy cards are the most difficult of all. I always create my own message, but even then it’s hard knowing what to say.

  3. Karen!!!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥ It was SO nice to see your comment and your link!!! ☺ Your cards are beautiful, though I’m sorry about your mother in law’s sister. A sad occasion but a beautifully crafted card. Your “hello” cards is so cheerful…the colours remind me of the tablecloths in this Italian joint I used to go to! It was bring your own wine and the candles were in those old straw covered wine bottles! ☺
